Dr. Joel A. Tickner
Dr. Joel A. Tickner is a professor of environmental health at University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Tickner obtained his PhD in Work Environment, Cleaner Production and Pollution Prevention from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 2000.
His research expertise is in environmental health, chemicals policy, pollution prevention, and risk assessment, specifically in the development of market, science, and policy strategies to advance the development, commercialization, and adoption of safer, more sustainable chemicals.
He is the founding Executive Director of the Green Chemistry & Commerce Council, a network of businesses across the value chain and the Association for the Advancement of Alternatives Assessment, a scientific society for the fields of alternatives assessment and informed substitution.
Dr. Tickner is a senior advisor to the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute, which provides resources and tools to help businesses, municipalities, and communities find safer alternatives to toxic chemicals.
